Unity is a gathering of Ukrainian Catholics from across Canada to further understand, embrace and celebrate our faith through prayer, education and fellowship. Unity is open to young adults 18 (1994) to 35 years of age. It will take place August 16-19, 2012 in Pinawa, MB, Wilderness Edge Retreat Center, just north of Winnipeg. Some of the program highlights include BBQ, Bonfire, Liturgies, Keynote Speakers, Breakout Sessions, and Zabava.
Theme – Into the Wild – As Christians, we are called to venture out into the wilderness; one that is both a challenge and an adventure. What is ‘wilder’ than setting out on a path with Jesus Christ as his disciple.
Keynote Speaker – Father Athanasius McVay
Topic: Blessed Nykyta Budka, Pioneer Missionary Bishop for the Ukrainians living in Canada.
Session description: The challenges faced by a young man who was given the responsibility over the spiritual welfare of his fellow countrymen in a foreign country.
Special Presentation by Rev. Dr. Michael Kwiatkowski – Taking Ownership of our Role in the Mission of Christ’s Church
Siblings of the Ring: FULL HEIRS OF THE CHURCH FAMILY
Session description: Sometimes we may feel the uncertainty of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) with regard to our place in the local Church – on the eparchial or parish level. We are not only nominal members of Christ’s ecclesial family, we are full members with the right to “wear the ring” of an heir. With this privilege comes duty, but we have a lot more to offer than we sometimes imagine…!
Cost: $225 before May 31 includes all meals, accommodation, sessions and social event for the program. Transportation extra. Fundraising will begin in the coming months to help with transportation costs.
