Adult Faith Inquiry Class
A new Adult Faith Inquiry Class will begin on November 30 (and not on November 16 as previously stated) and run until May 2022. The class is designed for those adults who are inquiring about the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Faith and it is open to all adults for faith enrichment. We will base our discussions on the official Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Catechism, Christ Our Pascha (of which our pastor was the general editor for the English-language edition). All are welcome. The Repose of Fr. Edward Kwiatkowski
April 19, 1929 – October 11, 2021
Father Edward Kwiatkowski was called home to our Merciful Father on Thanksgiving Day, October 11, 2021, at the age of 92, and one month short of his 26th anniversary to the priesthood.
Born in Elphinstone, MB of parents Michael and Eudokia (Labay), he was the 8th of 10 children; now only his sister Marge survives him. His was a “late” vocation: happy years of childhood and early adulthood spent on the farm segued to marriage to Phyllis Zemliak, leading to a remarkable whirlwind of adventures in Morden, Winnipeg, Rossburn, The Pas, the Esterhazy mines, and eventually Brandon, all the while raising seven children. On retirement, he chafed to do more for the Lord with his new spare time. His vocation to the priesthood, always thought impossible because of his humble beginnings, crystallized at this time and he undertook seminary studies in Rome. Completing these, an invitation to serve in Ukraine led to service there both before and after his ordination to the priesthood on November 12, 1995.
He was immensely grateful to the Lord for giving him over 25 years of priesthood, during which he served in Manitoba (Roblin/Russell district), Victoria, BC, and summer in Kenora, ON. He returned to Winnipeg to assist in his retirement years his son, Rev. Fr. Michael Kwiatkowski. Four months ago, new tiredness was diagnosed as leukemia, and after a short and prayerful battle, he died just as the daily family online rosary by his bedside ended.
The family is extremely grateful to Dr. Baher Kilada, St. Boniface Hospital admin and staff, Palliative Care, and WRHA Homecare personnel.

ARCHEPARCHIAL & PROVINCIAL RESTRICTIONS
As of Tuesday, October 5, 2021, the Province of Manitoba has issued a new Public Health Order and Metropolitan Lawrence has issued a new Archeparchial Directive.
There is no need at this time to register for liturgical services and events at Holy Eucharist Parish. You will need to sign our contact list upon arrival. This confidential contact list will be kept in the Parish offices for 14 days and then will be destroyed.
For all liturgical, sacramental, other prayer services, and other faith-based gatherings (UCWLC, Seniors, UCBC, Youth, Young Adult, etc.), the maximum number of participants is 33% of capacity (Church – 99 people; Church auditorium – 60 people; Parish Centre Hall – 137 people; Parish Centre Multi-Purpose Room – 36 people; Parish Centre Classrooms – 16 people). If the number of people at a Sunday Divine Liturgy starts to exceed the capacity restriction, we will add another Divine Liturgy to our schedule.
Masks are required to be worn by all participants for all liturgical, sacramental, other prayer services, and other faith-based gatherings. Please wear your masks properly – covering nose, mouth, and chin, with no gaps.
Households are to be socially distant in these gatherings. The pews are marked for your convenience.
For liturgical services, we may have two active cantors who are socially distanced from all others. Everyone may sing with their masks on but quietly.
The Metropolitan-Archbishop, Lawrence, has stated that the dispensation from the obligation to participate in-person at Sunday and Feast Day Liturgies remains in place for those who are sincerely concerned that attending in-person my put their health or the health of a loved one at risk.
Non-parish events (e.g., rentals) are to adhere to the current provincial health order (October 5, 2021).
